Too often we’re bogged down in busywork. Look past the paradigm of lead generation and simply tell the world what you’re good at, and how you can make your customer’s lives better.

Here are 3 ways in which you can increase sales by being more social-media-savvy.

  1. Hang out where your customers hang out. Participate in forums. Get involved in discussions in LinkedIn and Facebook groups. Be approachable and accessible. Add value and be helpful, without expecting anything in return. “Listen” by tracking keywords and hashtags to uncover opportunities to add value.
  2. Make sure that your customer can find you if they’re searching for what you’re selling. This is where your website has to be optimized for search. Curate content that your customers may be looking for. Text, images, infographics and video all help to tell the world what you’re selling. If you do a Google search for the problems your customers have, that your solutions solve, and your company doesn’t appear in the search results, you have a problem.
  3. Tell your story. Make the emphasis on how you add value. Your story should be consistent across platforms – social, web, PR. Always be authentic. Even better – get your customers to tell the story on your behalf. Authenticity and credibility are the first step in building your customer’s loyalty and trust.

Digital engagement and social media are pervasive in a way that traditional media could never be. If you’re not harnessing this power you’re missing the opportunity of a lifetime.
