The power of digital engagement in today’s business landscape is infinite. I use the term “digital” to include websites, blogs, social media, and digital media like images, audio and video. Customers are searching online for solutions to their problems, and typically only engage with a supplier, vendor or service provider once they already have a pretty good idea of what they want to buy.
Here are 3 opportunities that traditional businesses are missing by not being sufficiently digitally engaged:
- Awareness. If a prospect doesn’t find your company online while searching for solutions, goods and services you sell, they’ll never contact you. By having the right content in the right place and at the exact time when your prospects are searching, you radically improve the chances of your prospect being exposed to your brand and value proposition.
- Reach. Human sales teams are just that, human. With only so many hours in the day, their potential to reach new customers is naturally quite limited. On the other hand, content which lives on the web is accessible to almost everyone on the planet. If one of your organisational objectives is to grow your customer base, you have to reach all of those potential customers, and the only way to do this is online.
- Engagement. If you don’t make it easy for your potential customers to engage with your company, how will you ever convert prospects into customers? Companies who embrace digital technologies across the spectrum give their prospects the opportunity to engage on so many levels, like email, live chat, social media messaging and more.
Your customers are not companies, they’re people. Engage with these people by creating content relevant to their needs and make that content easy to find and digest.
