LinkedIn post-writing framework

Follow this simple framework to easily and quickly create effective LinkedIn posts that call your target audience into conversation:

If your LinkedIn posts aren’t getting people talking, you’re missing out on conversations with the people that matter most – prospective customers, potential business partners, collaborators, industry peers and even maybe your next new-hire.

Here are the 5 steps, broken down for you:

  1. The hook. Write an opening sentence which will grab the reader’s attention, and make it clear who the post’s intended audience is. Mention something relevant that they care about.

“54% of CEO’s surveyed say they have trouble getting everyone in their organization aligned with their strategy.”
  2. Make an offer, so that the reader knows what to expect in your post once they click “see more”

“Here are 3 steps you can take to improve strategic alignment within your organization:”
  3. Deliver on your promise and provide the value immediately. (share the 3 points you mentioned in your “offer”.
    • Over-communicate with your team.
    • Help them understand what’s in it for them.
    • Invest in strategic alignment workshops with a professional facilitator.
  4. Discuss. This is where you elaborate, prove your authority on the topic through story-telling and share more insights.
  5. Call people to conversation.
LinkedIn posts are supposed to be conversation-starters. If nobody joins your conversation in the comments, your post is less effective than it could or should be.

“What tips do you have for improving company-wide strategic alignment?”

Make sure your question at the end is one that people will want to answer in a public forum. Keep it light but relevant to your post.

It’s not that hard, right? Grab the attention of your target reader, offer them something valuable, deliver the value, demonstrate you understand the issues they face and know what they’re going through, call people into a conversation.

Yes, we’re all on LinkedIn to extract value for ourselves and our businesses, but by providing value, and opening conversations with other people, we uncover opportunities.
